Meet Lisa Smedley-Calderon, costume designer and Art Without Limits speaker for fashion!

Lisa Smedley-Calderon's work spans across fashion, music and film. Her early work consisted of styling music artists and involved multiple collaborations with performers, directors, producers and record label teams. She later transitioned into costume designing for film and television, including a film recognized on the Academy Awards shortlist.

Smedley-Calderon maintains active involvement in industry and community organizations, including the Costume Designers Guild, the Black Design Collective, the International Society of Black Costume Designers, ForbesBLK and The 100 Healthy Women community. Smedley-Calderon’s work reflects an ongoing commitment to collaboration, mentorship, and the role of design in shaping narrative and performance across media.

Meet our final guest speaker for this year's Fashion Merchandising Symposium, Anne Johnson, B.S. '18!

Anne (Catherine) Johnson is the owner and founder of Anne Cate, a Made-in-America accessories brand and manufacturing firm specializing in skyline silhouette purses and pillows. A proud Kent State graduate, Johnson has grown her business from a single sewing machine in her college dorm room into a full-scale manufacturing studio, employing full-time staff and empowering others to build success with their hands.
