This spring, our Teaching Tuesdays are returning as a Student Engagement Series led by our Professional Development Specialist, Dr. Sarah Beal. You can register for each session here: https://kent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b8WSeaEwzVoZzuK.

Our first event, which will take place on Tuesday, February 7, will feature effective lecturing. Lecturing is a necessary component for delivering course content, but how can you keep students engaged during a lecture? In this session, we will discuss strategies for creating lectures that support student learning and keep your audience interested. Join us in University Library 352 from 12-1:30 p.m. Unable to attend in person? Connect with us virtually via Microsoft Teams: https://tinyurl.com/3rtkcsdr.

Our second event, which will take place on Tuesday, March 7, will feature active learning. Students learn best when they have the opportunity to actively engage with course material. In this session, we will explore active learning strategies, both large and small, that you can easily incorporate into your classroom. Join us in University Library 352 from 12-1:30 p.m. Unable to attend in person? Connect with us virtually via Microsoft Teams: https://tinyurl.com/447t2f8j.

Our third and final event of this series, which will take place on Tuesday, April 11, will feature student engagement online. Keeping students engaged in an online course presents a unique set of challenges. Join Kent State Online as we discuss simple strategies you can use to increase instructor presence, build community, and design engaging activities in online courses. Connect with us virtually via Microsoft Teams from 12-1:30 p.m here: https://tinyurl.com/yc5tvshj.

We look forward to seeing you! If you have questions about the Student Engagement Series, please contact Dr. Sarah Beal at [email protected].
