Shortly after taking office as the newly elected president of USG of Kent State University, junior Nathan Smith reached out to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine as a part of his goal to connect with as many government leaders as possible. The answer? An invitation to spend three hours with the governor at the Ohio State Fair.

For Nathan, the experience was about more than meeting a governor. It was about the confidence, preparation and leadership skills he developed at Kent State.
