The Elisabeth Severance Prentiss Foundation recently made a $1.75 million gift to support students and programs at Kent State University College of Public Health. Proud Kent State University College of Public Health alumnus, Jonathon Fauvie works at Medical Mutual, where he develops programs with nonprofit partners that address social drivers of health. His work focuses on expanding healthcare beyond traditional settings and into the communities it serves.

Jonathan credits his Kent State University education, as well as the mentors who supported him, for helping him along his path. Today, he continues to use his voice to highlight the impact of public health and the importance of connection in building healthier communities.

The A.I.D. training (Awareness, Interaction and Direction), created in 2019 by the Kent State Center for Public Policy and Health, is now reaching communities in 26 states - and the researchers behind it are working to ensure it reaches many more. The program teaches participants how to recognize signs of mental distress, engage in compassionate and effective conversations with someone who may be struggling, and connect that person with the resources they need.
