Our students go on to do great things. Our graduates can be found in local industry as well as Fortune 500 firms across the United States. Many of our undergraduate students pursue graduate education in chemistry or biochemistry; others complete professional training in medicine, dentistry, or pharmacy. Today, we celebrated Dr. Mahinda Gangoda, Senior Research Engineer, and his incredible 40-year milestone with the Kent State Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry!

Dr. Gangoda’s Kent State story began even earlier: he earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kent State in 1983 and returned to the Department in 1986 to begin his current role.

For the past 40 years, Dr. Gangoda has been an invaluable resource to our department and our researchers. He keeps our instrumentation maintained and operational, trains researchers in its use, and operates our Analytical Instrumentation Facility, helping support the research and discovery happening throughout our department.

We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Gangoda’s 40 years of expertise, dedication, and service to our department and the Kent State community.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Gangoda on this remarkable milestone!
