Raymond Berry ’51, a member of Schreiner’s 1950 football team and the Schreiner Athletic Hall of Honor, has passed away.

Let's talk about grit...

Raymond Berry became one of the most influential wide receivers in NFL history and later a successful NFL coach. Yet his success was not built on exceptional size or natural speed. In fact, Berry faced physical challenges throughout his career, including one leg being slightly shorter than the other and a misaligned back. He wore special shoes, padding, and a back brace to compete.

What set Berry apart was his relentless work ethic, meticulous preparation, and unmatched precision. Through determination and discipline, he transformed himself into one of the greatest pass catchers the game has ever known.

His story remains a powerful reminder that perseverance, commitment, and hard work can overcome obstacles and leave a lasting impact.

Rest in peace, Raymond Berry. Your legacy will continue to inspire us.

From the Family of Dr. Tom Wells 👏

Dear Family & Friends,

Dad died at home on May 24, 2026, with his loving wife, Lori, by his side. We will all miss him dearly, and I will always be grateful that he was my dad. I have included an obituary that I wrote. Any stories or additions are welcome.

Much love to you all. Thank you for being a part of Dad's life.
