Building Skills From the Ground Up at CTC!

Central Texas College Construction Trades students put their woodworking skills to the test this past week, practicing the traditional technique of creating tongue-and-groove joints. Through careful hand carving, precise measurements and a close fit between two pieces of wood, students learned how craftsmanship helps create strong, seamless connections.

They also worked together to build the foundational supports for a deck, developing skills essential for constructing small sheds and other buildings. From measuring and cutting to assembling materials, students gained hands-on experience in creating a strong, stable structure.

At CTC, students learn by doing, building practical skills that can help them prepare for careers in the construction trades!
