Salary information:
(2023 rates below- Increases in 2024 and 2025)
Academy Rate-$55,018.14
Starting Rate (after graduation)- $61,131.02
After 1 year- $64,475.79
After 2 years- $73,604.57
After 3 years- $76,445.74
After 4 years- $77,995.41
After 5 years- $83,160.43
Longevity Pay:
7-9 years- 3% above base pay
10-12 years- 3.75% above base pay
13-15 years- 4.50% above base pay
16-17 years- 5.50% above base pay
18 and above- 6.50% above base pay
Education Incentives:
Associate's degree- 1.5% above base pay
Bachelor's degree- 2.5% above base pay
Master's degree- 3.5% above base pay
The City of Kingston Police Department encourages officers to further their education and will reimburse costs associated with getting degrees (associates, bachelors, and masters) in criminal justice. Contact us for more information.
Yearly Uniform Allowance:
$1,150.00

Supplemental day (holidays):
14 paid days (16 for veterans)per year
Vacation days:
1-5 years- 15 Paid vacation

Work Schedule: (Uniformed patrol officers)
8 hour shifts
7 days on, 3 days off (Tues/Wed/Thurs), 7 days on, 4 days off (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon)
