Students received one-on-one feedback from industry professionals at our annual fall resume workshop. Thank you to alumni Monica Gonzales, Fernando Quintanilla, James Harris, Dinora Adame, Bryant De La Cruz, Sydney Diaz, and Nayeli Montemayor, as well as advisory board member Allan Hayes, for the time they spent mentoring these future engineers. Our students are ready to rock the career expo!

Proud to see our civil engineering alumnus, Jesus Jimenez, receive this recognition. He has been an amazing mentor to young engineers and serves on the advisory board for our architectural engineering program (among other honors).

🏆 Meet our 2026 Distinguished Alumni honoree, Jesus Jimenez ’00, ’04!

A two-time Javelina engineering graduate, Jesus has turned his education and entrepreneurial spirit into a career that continues to create opportunities for others. Today, he serves as President and CEO of International Consulting Engineers (ICE), which has grown from a small local firm into a multi-office enterprise serving clients across the United States and internationally.

Through that success, Jesus has remained connected to Javelina Nation, working closely with the College of Engineering to employ fellow Javelina graduates and provide internship opportunities for current engineering students.

We enjoyed connecting with alumni and other industry partners at CECON last week. Our department was honored to accept a plaque in memory of alumnus Vernon Wuensche (B.S. CEEN 1974), who was one of the first graduates to receive a civil engineering degree from our institution. Thank you to the donors and to the ASCE Texas Section for honoring Vernon as part of this conference.

Several of our ASCE members participated in the Vernon Wuensche Memorial Fishing Tournament hosted as part of the 2026 Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON). Juan, Emilio, Damian, Adrian, Maverick, and Woody had a great time and represented our department well. We are grateful to the ASCE Corpus Christi Chapter for remember our 1974 alumnus, Vernon.

Today's spotlight is on civil engineering senior Renata Canales Negrete. This summer, Renata interned with James Construction Group-Promoris on the Heavy Civil Team. She learned about project documentation and field operations. Renata particularly enjoyed the parts of her work that featured concrete paving, as shown in the photo.
