After finishing his study abroad program in Seville, Spain, Influencer & Storyteller and Global Studies major Jake reflects on how his study abroad experience and subsequent travels shaped the way he views the world 🌍

“[…] My empty expectations were quickly filled with the rawest most intense hospitality I’d ever seen. From people in Kyrgyzstan helping me jump a car battery for free to them inviting me into their home for at least a meal, if not a place to stay. People in Egypt welcoming me into their country, offering free tours and advice for my time there. To the Moroccan people who gave me a ride home simply in exchange for some photos of themselves on my camera. Instead of learning about these people, I learned from them.”

Julia spent her summer in Milan, Italy studying engineering and the mechanics of bikes lets see what she learned!

"Our program centered around the example of the bicycle for how different materials could affect the design and performance of an object. We learned the fundamentals of how bikes are made, what parts they need, and how they function. Then, we applied these principles to speculate what kinds of materials would be best for creating these bike parts. Finally, the rest of the class was spent learning how different classes of materials are made and what their unique properties are. Exploring an entirely new city while considering what materials make everything around you is eye-opening."
