Torchbearer Hall is more than a residence hall. It is the all-new home base for incoming University Honors students. 🧡

Beginning in fall 2027, first-year Honors students will live steps from Circle Park in a modern community designed for connection, collaboration, and big ideas. From suite-style living, study rooms, lounges, and a community kitchen to expansive outdoor space and the UT Creamery right downstairs, every detail creates room to live well and learn boldly. 🏠

This is where an Honors experience takes shape and where new traditions, confidence, and community begin.

A little midweek reminder of why Fall Festival remains an Honors favorite. 🍂 This annual tradition gives Vols a chance to pause, celebrate the season, and enjoy an evening together!

This summer, Chancellor’s Honors student McKenzie Nguyen interned with the Metro Drug Coalition, where she helped create prevention curriculum for elementary and middle school students, support substance-use education presentations, develop youth leadership training, and plan ThriveFest.

McKenzie credits Honors with building her confidence in connecting with others and surrounding her with a community that continues to support her. With encouragement from her honors counselor, Ryan McCormack, and the friendships she made in the Honors LLC, she has learned to pursue meaningful opportunities while making space for self-care.

We’re proud of the impact McKenzie is making for young people and families across Knoxville. 🍊

From Rocky Top to Mayo Clinic, Leah continues to lead with curiosity, purpose, and impact. A 2023 Biomedical Engineering graduate and Haslam Leadership Scholar, Leah is now pursuing her PhD in Clinical and Translational Science at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Her Honors thesis experience built a foundation she carries into her doctoral research today. Presenting her work at local and national conferences strengthened Leah’s public-speaking abilities and developed research skills that continue to shape her work, even as her field has evolved.

We are proud to celebrate Leah’s continued commitment to discovery and leadership. Congratulations, Leah! 🧡
