As Women’s History Month winds down, we would be remiss to exclude our own Assistant Director, Christine Dano Johnson, MS, CPC. Christine’s journey through the Haslam College of Business Aerospace & Defense MBA reflects what happens when determination meets applied learning.

From navigating an unconventional career path to embracing opportunities that challenge the status quo, she has consistently demonstrated that growth doesn’t follow a straight line, and it includes a love of history, art, and prose.

Through her work and participation in the ADMBA program, Christine has:
• Collaborated across cohorts to solve real-world defense and industry challenges
• Contributed to executive development efforts supporting hundreds of hours of training for defense professionals
• Translated classroom insights into immediate, mission-relevant impact

But what stands out most is her commitment to continuous learning and community, a defining trait of women shaping the future of aerospace and defense.

Her story is a reminder:
➡️ There is no single path to leadership
➡️ Diverse experiences drive stronger outcomes
➡️ When one woman rises, she brings others with her

Christine is building momentum for the next generation of leaders.

Timing is everything. For many people in the aerospace and defense market, now is the time to decide if 2027 is the year to pursue an MBA. That decision starts with many important questions.

❓How much will it cost?
❓How will I juggle classwork, my day job, and family life?
❓What's the difference between an 11-month, 16-month, and 24-month program?
❓Where do I even start?

Our first 'Ask Me Anything' Session of 2026 is happening tomorrow, March 25, at 7:00 pm EST. Bring all your questions to this casual, conversational information session! https://lnkd.in/gCcfTvMx

This Faculty Friday, we’re proud to highlight Missie Bowers, a remarkable leader shaping the next generation of professionals at the Haslam College of Business.

As a faculty member in Graduate & Executive Education, Missie brings a powerful combination of strategic leadership, communication expertise, and real-world experience into the classroom. Her work helps professionals translate complex ideas into clear, compelling messages, an essential skill for leaders navigating today’s dynamic business and defense environments.

Missie’s impact extends far beyond the classroom. She challenges students to think critically, communicate with purpose, and lead with confidence, equipping them to solve real-world problems across industries such as aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing.

During Women's History Month, we celebrate educators like Missie who are helping open doors for future leaders while demonstrating the impact of strong, thoughtful leadership.

At the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, faculty like Missie remind us that the most powerful learning experiences happen when academic insight meets real-world application.

Leave. Learn. Return.

43% of aerospace and defense employees have been with their current employer for less than five years, suggesting frequent mid-career movement. It's why many aerospace leaders invest in sponsored MBA students: even when employees eventually leave, sponsorship often strengthens long-term relationships that lead to boomerang hires.

Studies show boomerang employees ramp up faster and stay longer because they already understand the culture and systems. MBA sponsorship can therefore create a talent ecosystem rather than a one-way employment relationship.

Companies that sponsor their employees with our ADMBA also enjoy:
💡 Budget consistency - tuition costs and expenses are already factored in
💡 Proactive employee selection - they can identify and recommend employees for an ADMBA months ahead of time, versus reacting to an employee request
💡 Tackling real-world challenges - they can intentionally identify Organizational Action Project topics that will provide real-world solutions
