In Loving Memory of Dr. Carl Bridges

The Johnson University community mourns the passing of Professor Emeritus Dr. Carl Bridges, who passed away on October 7, 2026.

A 1972 Johnson graduate, Dr. Bridges dedicated more than 30 years to teaching New Testament, impacting generations of students through his wisdom, humor, and pastoral heart.

We are grateful for his faithful service to Johnson University and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family, friends, colleagues, and former students.

The Johnson community is invited to celebrate his life on Monday, October 19, in the Philips-Welshimer Auditorium on campus.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m.
Funeral Service: 6:30 p.m.

A reception will follow in the Private Dining Rooms of Gally Commons.

POV: It can be hard to see how much you’re growing when you’re right in the middle of it.

God can use the classes that challenge you, the people who walk alongside you, the questions you’re still working through, and the ordinary days when you simply choose to keep showing up. Not every step will feel significant, but each one can shape who you’re becoming.

There is purpose in the process.

Last week, 50 Johnson University students and professors traveled to Indianapolis for the Spire Conference!

Our students learned from ministry leaders, heard powerful messages, built meaningful relationships, and had space to reflect on their own calling and future in ministry.

We’re grateful for opportunities like Spire that challenge and encourage our students as they grow into the leaders God is calling them to be and remind them that they’re part of something much bigger than themselves.

It was a great few days of learning, connecting, and dreaming about what God might do next!
