TENNESSEE WINS NATIONAL 4-H FORESTRY INVITATIONAL

Monroe County represented Tennessee at the National 4-H Forestry Invitational held at Weston, West Virginia on July 19-23. The team members were Aiden McKenzie, Will Thomas, Carter Williamson, and accompanied by Greg Austin, coach and Extension Agent. Tennessee placed 1st among the 15 states at this event. The contest was broken down into several categories, such as tree identification, tree measurement, compass and pacing, insect and disease identification, topographic map use, forestry evaluation, the forestry bowl and a written forestry exam. Aiden McKenzie had the highest overall individual score in the contest. Carter Williamson placed 6th, while Will Thomas had the 8th high individual score. Congratulations on a job well done!
