Meet Graycen Banaszak, a BSN nursing student from Viterbo University who is currently completing his internship at the Escuela Universitaria de Enfermería de Zamora, Universidad de Salamanca in Spain! 🇪🇸

This program offers students an immersive academic and cultural experience focused on nursing education, community health, and innovative learning methods like clinical simulation and virtual reality. Graycen is gaining hands-on experience in health promotion, disease prevention, and community care while improving his Spanish language skills in real healthcare settings.

Here is what Graycen shared about his experience so far:

Why Spain?
“I chose Spain because I want to be able to speak Spanish. I want to speak Spanish so that I can communicate with Spanish speaking people. This skill will be useful for me as a nurse. Being bilingual will help me greatly in my career.”

Surprising Spanish culture:
“One thing that surprised me was that most places close at 2 pm and reopen later in the day. This is because people go eat lunch and have a siesta during this time. It took me a while to get used to it, but now I feel like I will have a hard time not taking a nap in the middle of the day.”

Favorite spot & food:
“Salamanca is probably my favorite place that I went to. It is a very beautiful city and my friends and I went dancing when we were there. I had so much fun in Salamanca. My favorite food from Spain is probably tortilla de patatas. It tases very savory and is a great snack to eat.”

We are proud of Graycen’s dedication and growth abroad! 👏
