After 23 years of dedication, Michael Current, Collection Planning and Development Librarian, is retiring from Murphy Library.

Michael joined UWL in 2003 as Government Information Public Services Librarian, bringing experience from Carleton College and leaving a lasting impact on Murphy Library through his service, innovation, and support of students and colleagues alike.

“Michael’s influence extends beyond projects and collections. His wry humor and calm guidance have left a mark that will resonate for years. As we celebrate his retirement, we honor a career defined by innovation, service, and community. The standards he set, the students he empowered, and the colleagues he inspired ensure that his influence will continue to shape Murphy Library long into the future.”

Mending and Sewing Kits are now available for check out at Murphy Library thanks to The Campus Thread and UWL Students for Sustainability 🪡

Murphy Library has two large kits and two small kits and The Center for Civil Dialogue and Civic Engagement has one large kit available. These kits are designed for beginners and experienced menders alike.

Use them to repair holes or tears, sew on buttons, fix seams, and extend the life of your favorite clothing items. 🧵

This project was generously supported by UWL’s Green Fun to promote sustainable practices within our campus community. ♻️
