Happening on campus...
Construction and improvement work continues across Eastern Oregon University as the fall term gets underway, with several summer projects wrapping up and others continuing into the fall.
Several projects were scheduled to be completed before the start of fall term. These include the new bypass generator, which will help the university maintain operations during power outages, and improvements to the Hoke Union Building kitchen and first-floor student service areas. Work on Hoke’s east patio was also scheduled for completion this summer. The project includes a new raised deck and waterproofing designed to address leaks affecting the bookstore below.
One of the most visible projects still underway is the steam pipe replacement between Hoke and Quinn Coliseum near the sand volleyball courts. The new pipe serves the campus heating system and is intended to reduce the risk of problems during the winter heating season. The overall project is scheduled for completion on Oct. 31. Landscaping and site restoration around Inlow Hall and the Grand Staircase are also planned for this fall.
The Ballfield Complex is a longer-term project, with construction expected to continue into 2027. Current work includes refining plans, reviewing infrastructure and equipment needs, verifying utilities, and coordinating with the city on waterline relocation.
EOU is also updating maps of campus electrical and utility systems to help guide future projects. Together, the work is aimed at maintaining campus infrastructure while improving spaces used by students, employees, and visitors.
