This summer, Biola University launched its first ever Summer Engineering Camp for high school students, drawing an inaugural cohort from as far as Washington state to local counties across Southern California!

Taught by Biola School of Science, Technology and Health engineering faculty and student mentors, campers learned industry standard tools like SolidWorks and 3D printing to design and fabricate their own automaton, all in the span of a week.

Many had never touched engineering before camp and left proud to showcase their finished builds on the last day.

Beyond the lab, students got a taste of college life too, staying overnight in the dorms and heading out on excursions to the beach and other activities around Southern California!

This month, the School of Science, Technology and Health welcomed two groups of high schoolers (grades 9-12) to campus for a five-day Molecular Biology Summer Camp! Across both sessions, students got hands-on with real lab techniques used by working scientists, including DNA extraction, PCR analysis, protein gel electrophoresis, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and Western blot analysis. They even heard from a guest faculty speaker on molecular biology.

From pipette practice on day one to analyzing their own results by day five, campers left with more than a certificate. They left with a real taste of what it means to do science.

Want to keep learning alongside faculty like these? Applications for fall 2026 are open now. Learn more here: biola.edu/apply

Some programs prepare you for a career. Biola prepares you for both a career and a life of purpose.

Tobias Pak is a computer science alumnus of the School of Science, Technology and Health who discovered that Biola's Christian foundation changes everything about the experience. It shapes how professors show up for their students, how peers invest in each other and how graduates carry their skills into the world.

That is what Biola.io is built on. Explore the computer science program and see for yourself. Fall 2026 applications are open: biola.edu/apply

Faith and mathematics. At Biola, they have always belonged together.

Abigail Ho is a mathematics major at the School of Science, Technology and Health and a member of the SSTH Student Advisory Council. She is learning from faculty who do not just teach math. They live out their Christian faith as researchers, teachers and mentors. At Biola.io, biblical integration is woven into every course, every lab and every research opportunity.

From real statistical consulting work through the Quantitative Consulting Center to Biola's Research Assistant in Math Program, students here are equipped with more than technical skills. Explore the mathematics program at Biola.io.

The RISE Summer Internship Program is well underway, and this week our students gathered for a midpoint lunch and speaker session — a moment to pause, connect and be inspired!

We were grateful to have Doug Axe, Rosa Endowed Chair of Molecular Biology at Biola University, share with our students on the intersection of faith, science and artificial intelligence — a conversation as timely as it is thought-provoking.

From the lab to the lunch table, it has been incredible watching these students grow together not just as scholars, but as a community. We are only halfway through — and we cannot wait to see what the second half holds.

A new journey in healthcare begins. 👏

Today, we welcomed the second cohort of students into Biola University’s M.S. in Occupational Therapy program during orientation at Biola! These future occupational therapists are preparing to serve others through compassionate, Christ-centered care while gaining hands-on experience in a hybrid program designed for flexibility, excellence and accelerated career preparation.

Occupational therapy helps individuals overcome challenges in daily life, empowering them to live with greater independence, purpose and well-being — and Biola’s MSOT program equips students to integrate both faith and practice as they pursue meaningful work in healthcare.

Ready to take your faith to work and make a difference through occupational therapy? Learn more and apply today at biola.edu/MSOT

Congratulations to Biola’s engineering seniors on completing their yearlong Senior Capstone projects, showcasing the culmination of their hard work, innovation and engineering skills. 🎉

This year’s projects included an O-Drone, water desalination system and smart greenhouse. Mentored by Professor Curtis and guided by professional industry consultants, students developed real-world solutions designed to serve both the Biola community and communities around the world.

The water desalination system also received first place in the Life Giving Water International 2025-26 Student Design Challenge. Congratulations to our students on this outstanding achievement.
