to late April for a major milestone! 🎬✨

Congratulations to students Audrey Mattox, Charis Herrington, and Evyn Roliz for hosting the Female Director Spotlight!

Students, faculty, and staff gathered to watch short films and music videos created by our talented female directors. We had a great turnout of people showing their support, including Dean Tom Halleen and Associate Professor Marcieana Klaustermeyer.

Looking back at what a powerful day of celebration, visibility, and encouragement it was for female filmmakers at Biola. Let’s keep that momentum going!

Surviving the wilderness is where the true test begins.

“Wild Remnants” is about two brothers in the 1940s escape their alcoholic father into the treacherous wilderness where hunger, injury, and the elements test their bond and their ability to endure. This film was the senior thesis of Connor Klebs, Perrin Mullinax, and Aaron Silverman.

“Filming out in nature with this crew and creating a story was one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve ever had. I’m so grateful for everyone who poured into this and made this vision of brotherhood a reality.” — Connor Klebs ‘26

This spring, Crowell School of Business welcomed the In-N-Out Leadership Academy to campus — where they were able to get an early peek inside the new Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts studio facility.

Over 45,000 square feet. A 285-seat theater, soundstage, edit and audio suites, scoring and Foley stage, writer's rooms, and so much more for students. And a whole lot of vision becoming reality.

And here's a detail that made the tour extra special: within the Snyder School's new outdoor amphitheater is a tribute to In-N-Out co-founder Harry Snyder. Inspired by his love of the film "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," the Snyder School features its own iconic "The Big W." This same iconic symbol inspired the crossed-palm tree "X" currently found outside every In-N-Out location since 1972. It felt fitting to welcome the In-N-Out Leadership Academy to a studio facility that carries that same symbol — a nod to the legacy of people who build with purpose.

This facility isn't just for filmmakers — it's a glimpse into the future of faith-driven creativity at Biola. We can't wait to see what's made inside these walls.

"Should I not sit down and write my scripts with intention, purpose, and love?" ✍️📖

Meet Daniel Shing! As a senior writing for film and television major at Biola’s Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts, Daniel’s journey from a fan of "throwaway" lines in Star Wars to intern at Kingdom Story Company is a testament to the power of storytelling.

For him, community is the heartbeat of the Biola experience. He’s learned that whether you’re on a student set or a major feature film, leading with humility and a hunger to learn opens doors you’d never expect — like watching five of your own shots make the final cut of a "I Can Only Imagine 2."

We are so proud of the way Daniel integrates his faith into his craft, reflecting the heart of a God who loves to create. Interested in starting your journey at Biola? There is still time to apply! Link in bio!

From composing music to building worlds, there’s not much that Drew Magro can’t handle.

A junior Game Design and Interactive Media major and Torrey Honors student, Drew has played at Punk N Pie, composed music for games such as Tassena, and gone deep in his literature studies through the college. Check out his soundtrack for Tassena on Spotify by looking up “Drew Magro.”
