Challenge: Try What They Like

"I've never cared much about soccer, but my husband really wanted to watch as many World Cup games as we could. I didn't think I would enjoy sitting through 2-hour games that rarely end with many goals, but when I started thinking of it as time spent together, it became special for us.

We watched all of Mexico's games together (because my husband is from Mexico), and I wore my jersey every time to show my support. We even went to BWW to watch one of the games on a big screen (even though I don't like wings very much either). When Mexico was eliminated, I thought we wouldn't watch any more games, but I knew it was important to my husband to watch the final, so I watched it with him.

I learned that the World Cup is much more than just a soccer tournament; it's about showing patriotism for your country and honoring others. I loved seeing how the world came together and showed so much humanity and connection. I was able to feel more included in Latin culture, and now I have an even greater desire to show my love for my adopted mother country, Mexico! 🇲🇽"
