PCPS families:

We have seen an increase in the number of students possessing or wearing Meta/Ray-Ban smart glasses, and similar wearable electronic devices in school.

This is to inform you that students may not wear or use smart glasses, or similar smart/wearable recording or communication devices during the school day.

Many of these devices can photograph, record audio or video, livestream, communicate with others, access information, or transmit content without those nearby being aware, or even consenting to being recorded.

We are prohibiting these devices in an effort to protect student privacy, ensure a safe learning environment, and minimize classroom disruptions.

School is starting! Make sure you know when to show up for your class!

You can check your student portal for your start date and time. For those who reported their portal was not working, the district has been working on it today. We should be 💯 tomorrow. We will send out an email to students when we get word that your account is working.

PCPS is currently experiencing an internet outage. Our provider, Frontier, is working to resolve the issue.

The district’s telephones and online tools for PCPS families and staff may not be accessible until the internet outage has ended. District and school websites are also impacted.

We hope to have service restored as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Dear families,

This is an update regarding an internet outage impacting Polk County Public Schools.

For the last several days, Frontier, our internet provider, has been working to restore our internet service.

At this time, Frontier is reporting that this outage will likely continue tomorrow (Monday, July 27).

Unfortunately, more maintenance and testing are needed. Our internet service may not be restored until late Monday or perhaps Tuesday.

As a result, we anticipate that the district’s telephones as well as online tools for PCPS families will not be accessible until the internet outage has ended.

In addition, district and school websites will also not be accessible.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.

District staff are expected to report for work tomorrow as usual, and they continue to work on tasks and assignments that do not require internet access.
