Last week, Dr. Zeinemann's Early Childhood Education class had the opportunity to visit the Early Childhood Program at ZooTampa!

During their visit, students explored how hands-on experiences, exploration, and engaging learning environments can support the growth and development of young children. This unique opportunity allowed our future educators to see early childhood education in action beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Recently, our EDU 1000 students in Dr. Brewer's class explored the importance of verbal and nonverbal communication in professional settings. Working in groups, students acted out scenarios with a communication twist, discussed how their words, tone, and body language impacted the interactions, and then recreated the scenarios using effective, professional communication.

This engaging, hands-on activity helped our future educators recognize how communication can influence relationships, understanding, and the classroom environment.

Another great example of learning by doing in the FSC School of Education!

First-year students Lexi and Shay recently taught a first phonics lesson in Ms. Malerich’s second-grade classroom at The Roberts Academy. They had the opportunity to put what they are learning into practice while working directly with students and building their confidence as educators.

We love seeing our students gaining meaningful classroom experience from the very beginning of their journey!

A special thank you to Dr. Mijana Lockard for leading a valuable session during this month's Clinical Experience Seminar!

Dr. Lockard worked with our future educators to reinforce the importance of aligning classroom instruction with targeted benchmarks. Through thoughtful discussion and practical examples, students explored how intentional lesson planning ensures that instructional activities and assessments are focused on student learning goals.

We appreciate Dr. Lockard's dedication to helping our teacher candidates develop the knowledge and skills needed to become effective classroom educators!
