Great news for Red Rocks students!

The RRCC Student Food Pantry – Arvada Campus has been selected again as a beneficiary of the King Soopers Fight Hunger bag program β€” and you can help just by doing your regular shopping.

Here's how it works: through June and July 2026, every $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger bag sold at the King Soopers below sends $1 directly to our pantry to help feed RRCC students.

At Red Rocks, we are proud to learn and work alongside veterans and military families every day. On Memorial Day, we pause to honor those who gave their lives in service to this country β€” and to hold their families in our thoughts. The foothills of Colorado are full of stories worth honoring. Today we pause for the ones that made all the others possible.

Saturday wasn’t our only celebration, at RRCC the entire week was about celebrating our students and specifically about the people who run toward danger so the rest of us don't have to. πŸš’πŸš”πŸš‘

Red Rocks Community College marked graduation week with three first responder ceremonies β€” Fire Science, Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services.

The EMS ceremony featured RRCC alumna and keynote speaker Dr. Angela Wright, MD, FAEMS, Medical Director of the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

These graduates didn't just complete a program. They earned it.

"40 of you started. 36 of you are here. That matters." β€” Fire Science graduation

"The weight of the badge now rests with you." β€” Law Enforcement Academy

"We began with the common goal of getting better to save lives." β€” Fire Science class leaders Ellie Brickley and Brian Hagerman

To every graduate who showed up every day, pushed through the hard moments and crossed that stage this week β€” this community is safer because of you.

Partnership Spotlight: We Don't Waste

Food security is one of the biggest barriers to student success β€” and we're tackling it head-on thanks to an incredible community partner.

Since August 2025, Red Rocks Community College has partnered with Don't Waste to keep our Student Food Pantry stocked with the kinds of items that are hardest to source consistently: fresh produce and protein.

The impact, by the numbers:

βœ“ 5 food pickups completed
βœ“ 2,792 pounds of high-quality food recovered
βœ“ ~1 month of pantry inventory provided to RRCC students

That's nutritious food going directly to students β€” and out of the waste stream.

To the We Don't Waste team and volunteers: thank you for making nutritious, fresh food accessible to our students. This partnership is exactly what community-centered higher education looks like.

80% of childcare centers in our region are facing staffing shortages. Red Rocks Community College is doing something about it.

As President Landon Pirius told : "The whole metro area has a childcare access challenge, due largely to staffing. We like to think we're helping β€” not just our students get the education, but in our own way, making it possible for families in the community to work and have adequate, fair-priced childcare."

With a 98% employment rate for ECE graduates and a full-circle model that trains professionals and supports student-parents under one roof, Red Rocks is building the workforce behind the workforce.

Just one more way Red Rocks is Named for an Icon. Built for You. πŸ’™
