"Moving to Florida for school was a big step. I came here on my own, and I knew I needed a place where I could grow and get involved. What stood out about Cooley was how active the students were. They were leading organizations, publishing, mentoring, and competing. It felt like a place where, if you worked hard, you could build something meaningful. That mattered to me."

Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Isabel Zagazeta moved to Tampa, Florida, to pursue a legal education at Cooley Law School. She has earned book awards, served on Law Review, mentored incoming students, and was part of Cooley’s Moot Court team that recently won first place at the 2026 Robert Orseck Moot Court Competition.

Congratulations to Cooley Law School graduates Charles Scott Hamrick and Justin Pearl on passing the Florida bar exam and being sworn in by Judge Nick Nazaretian of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court. The graduates celebrated this important milestone and the start of an exciting new chapter in their legal careers alongside their families, Cooley Law School President and Dean James McGrath, and Associate Dean Katherine Gustafson.

🎉 Congratulations to our Tampa Moot Court team, Kimberly Ayala, John Johnson, and Dahlia Despradel, on earning runner-up honors at the National Puerto Rican Bar Association Moot Court Competition.

This achievement follows another strong national showing at the E. Earle Zehmer National Moot Court Competition, where Cooley students competed against 30 teams representing 15 law schools nationwide.

Congratulations to Cooley Law School alumna Dr. Amber Libby, who has been appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to serve on the 6th District Probate Court. Libby will serve Mackinac and Luce counties beginning Oct. 12. We’re proud to see another Cooley graduate step into a judicial leadership role and serve the people of Michigan.

Recent Cooley Law School graduate Morgan Prybys is turning a longtime dream of becoming a lawyer into a career focused on helping others.

During her time at Cooley, Prybys was involved with several student organizations and served as a teaching assistant. She also gained hands-on experience through Cooley’s SixtyPlus ElderLaw Clinic, building on her interest in estate planning and elder law. Her legal interests also include compliance, an area in which she earned a Certificate of Merit.
