CM Club Elections will be TODAY at 4pm in ENG 3104!

The Construction Management Club will be hosting elections for the Media Officer position. As the program is growing, we are looking to bring in a fifth officer. This position is “Media Officer”, however, the CMC Officers work together for all planning, meetings, and events. Anyone is open to run in this election or be nominated.

Those who are planning to run for officer should come prepared with a few words about who you are and how you’d like to contribute to the club. Voting will take place during Today’s meeting via Poll Everywhere.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please reach out to any of the officers.

CM Students, check out this end of summer opportunity if you're in Laramie!

CM Students,

We have a summer internship opportunity available to those still looking. Please see the email below for more information. You can reach out to myself, Josie or Dr. Jacobs for more information if you need any.

Have a great summer!

Richard Construction Inc. is looking to hire a summer intern that will have the opportunity to work with the general contractor’s super intendant day-to-day and with the project manager to assist in technology and hands-on work to gain construction knowledge in the field. We are building an elementary school in Laramie Wyoming within a few blocks of the University of Wyoming Campus.
You’ll be able to earn between $14-16/hr in approximately 40 hrs/wk and possibly three credit hours towards your major at the University of Wyoming.
If you’d like to discuss the opportunity, please email me, Brooks Paskett, the project manager, to discuss the possibility.
Sincerely,
Brooks Paskett
Project Manager

Our next showcase is Andreas Lipp. Andreas is an undergraduate student in our program. AJ is eager to learn and excel in everything he does and takes pride in it. The CM department is lucky to have him in our program, we’re excited to see him accomplish great things! Leave a message for AJ below to show some appreciation and encouragement!

I’m from Virginia, right outside of Washington D.C. and came to UW after a high school friend recommend the school to me and let come on a campus tour with him and his family. Besides being in the Construction Management Club, I am also involved in Fraternity and Sorority Life. I am a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity here on campus where I currently serve as their Treasurer. I am also the Vice President of Standards for the Interfraternity Council (IFC) which oversees all fraternities here on campus.
Why I joined the CM Program and what it means to me:
When I first came to UW, I was studying Architectural Engineering and wanted to focus in Construction Management. I was always interested in vertical construction but after my freshman year something just wasn’t clicking with my major. It was then when I found out that UW was going to have Construction Management as its own degree program and haven’t looked back since. Ever since I changed majors, I’ve been excited to learn more in the CM classes and couldn’t be happier with my choice.
What I’m excited for and looking forward with CM:
I’m excited to see the Construction Management program grow so others can have the same enjoyment for learning as I have. I am also looking forward to my Internship with James G. Davis Construction this summer that I would not have been able to pursue without the education and training the Construction Management program has provided me.

Our second showcase is Shannon Kenny. Shannon is an undergraduate student in our program. She gets involved in a lot of school activities and continues to work hard in all of her classes. Shannon is eager to learn and excel in everything she does and takes pride in it. The CM department is lucky to have her a part of our program, we’re excited to see her accomplish great things! Leave a message for Shannon below to show some appreciation and encouragement!

“I am a Colorado native born and raised to love all things outdoors .I also lived in Australia for two years and learned to love the ocean. These two loves drive my interest in travel. I came to UW for the small town feel of Laramie and all the amazing things to do outdoors. When I am not studying my butt off I love to hang out with friends, hike, and ride my horse Grace. Together Grace and I compete in Eventing. I am the President of the UW Equestrian team and a board member for sorority Phi Sigma Rho.

Why I joined the CM Program and what it means to me:
I didn’t always know CM is what I wanted to do. I started out as a Civil Engineering major at UW. After doing a transportation internship my freshman year I realized I really liked field work. I also liked seeing a project go from start to finish rather than just contributing to a small part and being done. My best friend convinced me to look into CM and since then I’ve never looked back.

What I’m excited/looking forward to:
I am looking forward to helping grow the community of women in CM at UW. I am also excited that I’ll have a career that will lead to a job where I can apply what I’ve learned.”
