🎻 The Castleman Quartet Program West (CQPW) inaugural season is officially here! Founded in 1970, the acclaimed Castleman Quartet Program (CQP) cultivates exceptional young chamber musicians.

This summer, UW Professors Drs. John Fadial and Beth Vanderborgh bring CQPWest’s inaugural season to Wyoming. Join us to experience the extraordinary talent and artistry of these rising musicians!

Join UW Collegiate Chorale for a FREE performance of their tour program Sunday, May 17, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Cathedral in Laramie.

Conducted by Dr. Brian C. Murray and accompanied by pianist Alisson Garcia, the ensemble will be performing at Cardiff University and Insole Court in Cardiff, Wales, at the historic Wells Cathedral in Wells Somerset, and at St. Mary Abbots Church in London, acting as musical ambassadors for UW.🎼

The Chorale will offer a program of spectacular choral works by composers from the United Kingdom and the United States, including Brandon Boyd, Gerald Finzi, Orlando Gibbons, Elaine Hagenberg, Achilles Hennessy, Moses Hogan, Karl Jenkins, Susan LaBarr, Peter Leech, Paul Mealor, Alice Parker, C.V. Stanford, Lucy Walker, Eric Whitacre, and Reginal Wright.

🎶SUNDAY! Join us for the UW Flute Studio Recital🎶

The University of Wyoming Flute Studio 🪈is hosting a public recital featuring students from the studio performing a variety of classical works. The program includes solo performances of concertos and sonatas by Bach, Mozart, Handel, Godard, and Pokorny.

Performers: Madeline Elston, Rylie Johnson, Isabella Pena, Amanda Smith, Rachel Good, and Karina Schoessler.

Collaborative Pianists: Dr. Soyeon Kang, Emilee Ewing, Gyejun Baek, and Renato da Silva.

🎶✨FRIDAY!

Grammy winners🏆, jazz legends, and hometown favorites—the Ben Markley Quintet brings an elite lineup to the BCPA Recital Hall for a free, public performance.

🎹Leading the ensemble is jazz pianist and UW faculty member Ben Markley, a prolific performer who has shared the stage with legends such as Ron McClure and George Garzone.

🎺He is joined by featured guest artist Terell Stafford, whom McCoy Tyner hailed as “one of the great players of our time.” A Grammy Award winner and Director of Jazz Studies at Temple University, Stafford has appeared on over 130 albums and performed with icons like Benny Golson and Kenny Barron.

Rounding out the quintet are three distinguished musicians and educators.

🎷Saxophonist Peter Sommer, a Professor at Colorado State University and D’Addario Woodwinds Artist, is a celebrated soloist with six albums as a leader.

🎻Bassist Dr. Seth Lewis is a UW Music faculty member and a staple of the Front Range jazz scene.

🥁Drummer Kyle Swan, a Grammy Award winner, has performed at major international festivals and alongside greats like Kurt Elling and Paquito D’Rivera.

🎶 TONIGHT! Join us for an evening of choral artistry! 🎶

University of Wyoming Choirs invite you to a diverse musical journey -- from folk-rock anthems to powerful works on social justice, there is something for everyone.

Program:

✨ The Happy Jacks kick things off with high energy, featuring the folk-rock favorite “Wagon Wheel” and the bright, hopeful harmonies of the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun.” They’ll also tap into your inner hero with Disney’s “Go the Distance.”

🌟 The Laramie Children’s Chorus brings a mix of light and rhythm, performing Matt and Adam Podd’s uplifting “Shine,” the atmospheric “The Moon,” and the joyful, rhythmic traditional South African hymn “Siyahamba.”

🕊️ The Meadowlarks explore beauty and romance through Sarah Quartel’s rhythmic “Songbird” and the lush, jazzy textures of the classic “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.” 🎓 Stay tuned for a special ceremony honoring our graduating seniors during this set!

🌍 The Laramie Civic Chorus presents a centerpiece of the evening: Kyle Pederson’s “A Vision Unfolding.” This five-movement suite is a profound exploration of social justice, using a mix of soulful melodies and powerful rhythms (featuring guest violin, trumpet, and snare drum) to dream of a more inclusive world.

🔥 The Singing Statesmen close the night with a set ranging from the driving, dramatic Latin rhythms of Orbán’s “Daemon Irrepit Callidus” to the high-energy spiritual “I’m Gonna Sing ‘Til the Spirit Moves in My Heart” to the emotional powerhouse “The Awakening,” a piece that celebrates the literal and metaphorical power of music returning to the soul.
