Freshman Senate is an ASUW program dedicated to helping first-year students acquire leadership skills, learn about University resources, and represent first-year students' opinions to the ASUW Student Senate. Freshman Senate is a natural channel for student to become involved in the campus community and ASUW Student Senate later in their academic experience

21 Freshman Senators are chosen at the

beginning of each academic year to represent their fellow first-year students. Senators meet weekly on Tuesdays at 5pm, and also participate in a variety of Freshman Senate and ASUW standing committees

Freshman Senate activities include: writing and debating legislation in Freshman and ASUW Student Senates, meeting and offering direct feedback to UW administration about campus issues, participating in UW Homecoming activities, planning and implementing programming for first-year students, reviving lost campus traditions, and working on various community service projects.
