University of Wyoming - Department of Plant Sciences The Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Wyoming aims to promote and improve the utilization of plants to meet human needs.

We offer a degree in Plant Production and Protection, and graduate degrees (M.S. & PhD) in Plant Sciences. The Department of Plant Sciences is known for excellent research, teaching and extension programs that attract nearly a million dollars annually in funding. The department offers Masters and PhD degrees in Plant Sciences and administers an undergraduate degree in Plant Production and Protection, with minors and concentrations available in Agronomy, Horticulture, Pest Management, and Agroecology. Faculty are engaged in regional and international agricultural issues through a combination of basic and applied studies, extension, and training of undergraduate and graduate students. Major activities center on agronomy, weed science, plant pathology, horticulture, plant breeding, and forage science.

Great class trip to Jacoby Golf Course today. Learning the ins and outs of how superintendent Clint manages the course is eye opening for plant sciences students. Here, we visit the nursery plot - managed just like the other greens so they can take plugs out when repairs are needed.

Always beautiful to tour the course in the fall, even when it’s chilly. The team cares for and considers every inch of this course, every tree, every sprinkler head, every corner!

Monitoring for where w**ds and other pests occur is a critical step to prioritizing and planning future management.
