The NMSU Low Brass musicians and faculty proudly honored Pianist Beverly Rhodes at their spring recital earlier this month. Ms. Rhodes retired from performing as an accompanist after more than a decade of working with the NMSU Music Department. Her husband Bill Rhodes, also a pianist who performed at Music Department recitals, retired earlier in the year. We wish them a happy and healthy retirement!

On May 19, Trio Enchantment performed four educational outreach concerts for over 200 elementary students in Las Cruces Public Schools. Left to right, Orchestra Director of Centennial High School, Dr. Hyerim Mapp, NMSU Music Department Associate Professor of Clarinet, Dr. Madelyn Moore and NMSU Retired Professor of Horn, Ms. Nancy Joy. Trio Enchantment performed original works and hand percussion to introduce and discuss the four families of musical instruments.

Congratulations to our two NMSU Honors Recital alternates, Trinity Brockman, flute, with Dr. Marta Plominska and Oscar Cervantes, euphonium, with Dr. David Mzyk.

Ricardo Adrial Mendez, recipient of a 25-26 Presser Foundation Undergraduate Scholar Award and scholarship, received his certificate at the May 13 Honors Recital. Ricardo performed earlier in the semester and is pictured with Daniel Vega-Albela, violin faculty.

Our final performance of the semester was the NMSU Honors Recital on May 13. We are excited to acknowledge the first three of our honorees: Caitlen Briggs, piano, pictured with Dr. Jung-Won Shin; Angelica Chavez, flute and Dylan McKinney, flute, both with Dr. Marta Plominska.
