We had a wonderful Camp COLA-themed College Day program for our first-year cohort last week! Students met college leaders and participated in workshops on motivation, major exploration, student success, and college and career advising. They also had opportunities to connect with peers and make new friends through camp activities, including ghost stories (student panel), crafts cabin (making friendship bracelets), and a campfire story circle (networking with faculty).

Huge thanks to everyone who attended and the COLA student engagement team, faculty and staff, and student volunteers who made it happen!

COLA Passport Sessions were a hit during Rebel Ready Week! From personality typing and major exploration to culture and communities and internship opportunities, the sessions were designed to equip first-year students with the tools for college success.

Digging into the Past: UNLV Archaeology Summer Camp was a major dig! 

From July 6-8, UNLV Anthropology immersed students in the world of archaeology!

Our campers kept busy by:
Conducting active field excavations 🪏
Analyzing human history through material traces 🔍
Working with professional archaeologists to sharpen their artifact analysis skills 📚

COLA’s Pathways to Success summer camp, held June 22–26, equipped students with foundational skills for a lifetime of achievement and success! 🚀

ICYMI: June 15-17, the College of Liberal Arts and UNLV Sociology proudly hosted the Justice, Law, and Society summer camp dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders. Throughout the program, attendees engaged in hands-on community outreach, partnering with The Just One Project and the Dolores Huerta Resource Center to assemble essential supplies for our local community. Students applied critical analytical skills to examine the justice system under the guidance of our expert guest speakers. A heartfelt thank you to our community partners, guest speakers, dedicated staff, and inspiring students for making this camp a success.

Held June 8-12, the Witnessing History Summer Camp was a huge success! During the event, students learned about the role of museums in building public memory and embarked on a unique journey to explore two exciting museums in Las Vegas, The Mob Museum and National Atomic Testing Museum . Thank you to both museums and the hardworking COLA leaders who helped to create the opportunity for these students.

COLA proudly hosted the UNLV Mock Trial Summer Workshop June 1-5. The event was designed to expand access to mock trial activity. Campers used their public speaking and advocacy skills to engage with guest legal experts, build critical skills through debate games, and participate in thrilling courtroom scrimmages and mock trials. Thank you to all the incredible volunteers, staff, and student leaders who helped coordinate and execute this workshop.
