A simple way to decide what stays, what goes, and what just needs a better place is to start with one question: “When will I realistically use this item again?” Not COULD you use it—but WILL you?

If the answer is:

• In the next few weeks, it’s best keep it at home and organize it so it’s easy to grab.
• In the next few months or seasonally, it’s best to move it to storage.
• And if you haven’t used it in a year, you don’t plan to, or it’s not meaningful, it’s probably time to let it go.

Following this simple rule can help you move past the “what if” mindset and start creating a home you enjoy being in that actually works for you. Because more space doesn’t just clear your home, it clears your mind.
