I am very sad to share with you that Kathy Espin passed away yesterday a few days after suffering a stroke. Many of you may know her as your internship coordinator, you may have taken her writing class, or from when she accompanied our 2103 NSAC team to the national finals in Phoenix. She was a wonderful colleague and friend, and I will miss her deeply. She retired from UNLV a few years ago, and I hope that her last years were happy ones.

With heavy hearts, we share the sad news that CASA volunteer, KATHY ESPIN, passed away last night. Kathy was an outstanding CASA Volunteer for 23 Years. She was a fierce advocate for many children in foster care & became ‘family’ to several. We called her our friend & her energy, humor & compassion will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt thoughts are with her family at this sad time.

Congratulations to this dynamic duo of NSAC 2013 grads – Lisa Coruzzi and Kristina Guerrero – for earning the Outstanding Service Award from CASA Las Vegas. The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program provides court-appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe, permanent homes. Thank you, Lisa and Kristina, for your commitment to volunteering!
