Witnessing our UNLV JMS alumni succeed after graduating is one of our favorite things!

Nathan Olson had interned with Las Vegas’ professional lacrosse team, the Desert Dogs, for more than two seasons and a month after graduating, he was given the opportunity to be the team’s full time Marketing and Social Media Coordinator.

Using the storytelling skills he had learned at UNLV, Nathan has managed to share the team’s story on social media in fun ways. He hopes to grow the Desert Dogs and his career in Las Vegas’ ever evolving sports landscape.

Congratulations to our very own Jason Beatty, KUNV Las Vegas Operations Manager, on his induction into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame! 🎙️👏

Jason began his radio career in 1999 with CBS Radio in Rochester, New York, before spending more than a decade in the western Caribbean and joining UNLV in 2021.

Looking back on 27 years in broadcasting, Jason says his past five years at UNLV—especially working with his students—have been the highlight of his career.

We love seeing our former journalism students thrive beyond UNLV!

Megan Roma continues to grow her career in sports media as the Social Media Manager for PWHL Las Vegas, while also representing the Vegas Golden Knights during the 2026 Stanley Cup Final. She helps with content creation, marketing initiatives and promoting PWHL Las Vegas’ inaugural season.

Megan’s goal is to help grow the game of hockey in Las Vegas and create more opportunities for girls and women to see themselves in the sport, both on and off the ice.
