UNLV Dance is partnering with Steps on Broadway for their College Spotlight Series!

Join us virtually on Saturday, November 21, for a Jazz/Contemporary masterclass led by UNLV Dance professor Jason Hortin!

Designed for dancers ages 13 and up, this special opportunity offers an inside look at college dance training. Participants will take a 90-minute masterclass followed by a 30-minute Q&A, where they can learn more about UNLV Dance, connect with faculty, and gain insight into pursuing dance at the collegiate level.

SATURDAY SCAVENGER HUNT: UNLV DANCE EDITION

Rebels, ready to catch ’em all? Think Pokémon GO, but make it UNLV Dance.

Five banners. One campus. A little creativity. A little competition. And some Starbucks money on the line.

Here’s the challenge:

1. Find all five UNLV Dance 50th Anniversary banners around campus.
2. Recreate the pose of each dancer on the banner.
3. Snap a photo and post it to your Instagram Story.
4. Tag UNLV Dance so we can see your moves.

THE PRIZES
The first five Rebels to find all five banners, recreate the poses, and tag us win a $10 Starbucks gift card each.

BONUS CHALLENGE: The first person to recreate ALL FIVE banners wins a signed Jason Hortin crop top. Yes, you read that right.

Saturday plans? Consider them choreographed.

We are prepping for UNLV College Of Fine Arts UNLV Art Walk, which will take place along the Academic Mall on the main campus on Oct. 23, 2026 from 5pm-9pm. The theme is “Rebel Gold,” to honor the UNLV arts community and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the UNLV Dance department.

There will be local restaurant food tastings, a b**r garden, and w**e tastings to pair with the viewings and installations.

We loved welcoming Korean National Sport University (KNSU) to UNLV Dance today!

Our students and guests came together for a wonderful exchange of movement, artistry, and culture through a masterclass series featuring Traditional Korean Dance with KNSU Professor Dayun Jeon and contemporary dance with UNLV Professor Tawn.

Join us at UNLV Dance for HIP HOP II (DAN 216) with Las Vegas native and professional dancer Lonnie Chaney this Spring 2027!

With an impressive career spanning the Las Vegas Strip and beyond, Chaney has performed in acclaimed productions including MJ Live: A Tribute to Michael Jackson, iLuminate, Donny Osmond, The Beatles LOVE, and Bob Marley Hope Road.
He has also shared the stage with major recording artists including Steve Aoki, Nicky Jam, Logic, J Balvin, Snoop Dogg, Natasha Bedingfield, and Leona Lewis.

Represented by Go 2 Talent Agency, Chaney is also the founder and director of The Village Dance Collective / KidzVill, where he continues to inspire and develop the next generation of dancers.

We are officially preparing for our 50th Anniversary Season—the Golden Anniversary! 

A central part of this celebration is welcoming our alumni back to campus to share their artistry with our community.

Submit your choreographic proposal. Before applying, please review the following logistics and policies:

Where: Alta Ham Fine Arts Studio One
When: January 29–30, 2027
Deadline for Applications: September 18, 2026
Finalists Announced: October 16, 2026

Submission Requirements:
Submit a link to a video of the proposed work, a promotional reel, or a compilation of your choreography.

Professional recordings are not required, but submissions should be clear, well-framed, and unedited. A single, continuous camera angle is preferred.

Links must remain active until finalists are announced.

Please also have a headshot and bio ready for submission. Bio must be in a Word doc, PDF, or image file.

Works may be new or pre-existing.

Maximum length: 10 minutes.

No limit on cast size; however, current UNLV Dance majors and minors may not perform.

Rehearsal space will be provided for technical and dress rehearsals only.

Clearly indicate any props or set needs; fire, confetti, and glitter are not permitted.

Artists are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and related expenses.
