On May 28th, we hosted our Part-Time and Volunteer Faculty Appreciation Dinner sponsored by Henry Schein Dental. A huge thank you to all of our Part-Time and Volunteer Faculty for all they do and have done to make the dental school the institution it is today. We would not be the success we are today without each and every one of you! We would also like to thank Henry Schein Dental and their local team (Steve, Julie and Roy) for the continued support of our faculty, students and school.

Delta Dental Insurance Company announced today that it has awarded each of four University of Nevada-Las Vegas dental school students a $2,500 grant.

The 2015 F. Gene Dixon Student Leadership Awards recognize graduating dental students who demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities. Delta Dental established the awards in 1977 in honor of Dr. F. Gene Dixon, the first chief executive officer of Delta Dental of California, which is now part of the largest dental benefits delivery system in the country.

This year’s recipients from the Class of 2015 are Colleen Schook, Taylor Tokunaga, James Robinson, and Chelsie Todd.

A huge thank you to our faculty, staff, students and residents who participated in our first legislative trip for Oral Health Awareness Day on April 15! This visit was a collaboration with the Nevada Dental Association (NDA) to increase awareness of the dental community, encourage student involvement in organized dentistry and advocacy as well as legislative engagement. We appreciate the support of the NDA and look forward to making this a regular event in the future!
