John Leo Long 78, of Blairsville (Derry Twp.) passed away peacefully Sunday June 14, 2026 at his home. He was born November 13, 1947 in Latrobe a son of the late Clair J. "Bucky" Long and Peggy Tiberi Bolinger. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
John was a 1966 graduate of Derry Area High School and then the DeVry Institute of Technology. He worked as a service technician with Omega Balance Service for sixteen years prior to ownership for twenty-nine years until retirement. He enjoyed his work and travel becoming friends with many of his customers. He also was an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. John was an active member of the( Masonic) La Monte Lodge #568 F&AM of Derry, Twin Maples Hunt Club, Blairsville B.P.O.E. #406 and the FJ Bow and Gun Club. He spent many years spelunking with members of the Mid Atlantic Karst Conservancy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Janet Conrad and a half brother Clair "Joe" Long.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years Mary Ellen Tutoki Long, his daughters Cheryl Ann Henigin (Joseph) and Sharon Lynn Long, two grandchildren; Joshua Henigin (Ashley) and Jordyn Henigin, siblings; Dolores "Dee" Springer and Richard Long, half-sister Sara "Sally" Marling, brother-in-laws Richard and Michael (Kim) Tutoki, Aunt Pat Bopp, many nieces, nephews and cousins, leaving behind a legacy of love, family and cherished memories.
Friends will be received Friday Jun 19, 2026 from 10am till noon at the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry, where a Masonic Service will be conducted at noon followed by his funeral service.
Special thanks to 365 Hospice for the care and compassion shown by nurses and staff, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center (Indiana) staff and especially Dr. Gopala A. Ramineni.
