Do you want to be an active bystander at KU? Would you like to learn more about how you can use your voice to prevent sexual violence and harassment in the q***r and trans community? Do you like free lunch? Come join the Sexual Assault Prevention & Education Center (SAPEC) and the Center for Sexuality and Gender Diversity (SGD) for a training on bystander intervention strategies centering q***r and trans people! SGD wishes everyone a happy first day of classes, we hope your semester is as amazing as you hope it to be and more!

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us at UnionFest this past weekend. It was surreal being able to see so many of your beautiful faces in person. It was such a fun time with Drag Bingo hosted by the extraordinary and we hope you all won some incredible prizes as well!

We also received many pieces of artwork at our UnionFest Paint & Chill! It’s not hard to believe we have so many talented artists in the community 🎨

Although UnionFest is over, Hawk Week is just beginning! Join SGD for our programs and events this week, including our ICONIC Q***r Coffee Hour, QT Film Club, Gaymer Night, Social Group Meet & Greet, and the Welcome Back BBQ. Come meet new people and have a good time!

Who’s excited to be on campus in a few short days? The Center definitely is looking forward to get the year started on a great note!

Check out the numerous programs and events we have during Hawk Week at The Center! We have some exciting new events as well as events that you know and love from last year.

Looking for plans to celebrate Pride Month? Well, look no further, Join the Lawrence PRIDE Parade & Party this Saturday, June 12th, 2021!

Celebrate PRIDE in Lawrence with a PRIDE Parade march through Downtown Lawrence followed by a live show featuring LGBTQ+ musicians and drag performers at Abe & Jake’s Landing!

This free event is open to all ages and accessible to all. The parade begins at 4:00 PM and is followed by a party hosted by Ms. Amanda Love at Abe & Jake’s Landing.

We are proud to be a means of support to the q***r and trans community at KU — remember that you are all loved, valued, and celebrated exactly as you are.

For the entire month of June, The Center will be celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community by posting about the history of Pride Month, celebrating the successes of our community, and acknowledging the work that still needs to be done. Make sure to keep an eye out throughout the month!

The Center is honored to be the steward of four QT-Centered scholarships ranging from $1,000-$5,000 at The University of Kansas for the 2021-2022 academic year.
