Along with helping prepare stock for our 4-H/FFA contest, the Freshman also were able to get a few more contests in last week. Every year we look forward to The Masters and Blue Dragon contests hosted by two amazing programs. These two contests are a perfect learning tool heading into next Fall. We learned valuable lessons, yet still had a little success along the way.

Contest day is right around the corner. You don’t want to miss this, so make sure you’ve completed entries for the best contest that we’ve assembled yet. Official entry deadline is tomorrow, 4/15, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

We know just how much effort goes into preparing teams to compete. In addition to the exciting, revamped banners up for grabs for top individuals and teams, we will be rewarding coaches for their efforts this year. The coach of the High Team Overall in each division will also be receiving a bag to commemorate the moment. Check them out below!

As we turn the corner from Houston and set our eyes on our annual South Plains College Livestock Judging Contest, we can’t begin to express our excitement. We truly have tried to up our game in every facet this year, from class logic and quality, to finally revamping our awards.

Take a peek at these amazing banners designed by alumni Morgan Minnick at 3M Media by Morgan Minnick. This year, we will give out over 90 banners and many more fun awards, including random prize drawings!

The Texans concluded their two-year stint at the Houston Stock Show & Rodeo with their best finish at a major. This team continued to work hard and trust the process, and we wish them luck in their future endeavors.

We look forward to San Antonio each year due to the immense quality of livestock and how efficiently run it is. This year was truly one of the best contests we have ever attended, and the Texans had a great outing before the final push to Houston!

Every year, we try our best to host one of the highest quality contests that 4-H/FFA members in Texas and surrounding states get to attend. This year, we expect nothing different and have made some critical changes to hopefully make our contest more beneficial to students, advisors, and coaches.

More classes, more questions, and more time for coaches to walk through classes with their students!
