Chi Omega: Xi Lambda

Chi Omega: Xi Lambda After all, once a Chi O, always a Chi O!

In an effort to reach out and continue the traditions of sisterhood amongst our Xi Lambda alumnae, this page was created as a online 'watering hole' for all things Chi Omega ΞΛ. We hope to keep our sisters up to date on Xi Lambda festivities and events including traditions such as bid night, Cinco de Chi O, and Chili Cookoff in addition to rekindling bonds between our graduated sisters and our active members.

“The Shepherd Program has allowed me to volunteer at so many locations. As part of my POV 102 class with Professor Jenny Davidson, I was able to help out in a third-grade classroom at Enderly Heights Elementary. This made me further realize how important it is for children to grow up with a solid education. Related to this, at Campus Kitchen, we have a backpack program for the local schools where we provide little bags of snacks for the children. Packing, distributing and then seeing these backpacks in classrooms has been an amazing, full-circle moment. Further, W&L has truly helped cultivate my love for music through University Singers. Being able to create a community with such a talented group of people has really allowed me to understand the importance of the arts for communication and connection.”

“Being part of the Connolly Entrepreneurship Society (CES) has been one of my most impactful experiences at W&L. As vice president of business development, I’ve honed my strategic thinking and problem-solving skills by consulting student start-ups on key growth areas, from raising capital to establishing partnerships and refining pitch strategies. In October 2024, I had the opportunity to attend an entrepreneurship conference in Tampa, Florida, which was an eye-opening experience. It reinforced the importance of bringing external insights back to our campus to strengthen the internal processes of our own entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

“I like to spend as much of my free time as I can outdoors. The Outing Club has made getting outside so easy, and it has been a space in which I can push myself outside of my comfort zone alongside others who love to do the same. I have had many “firsts” with the Outing Club (received my scuba certification, co-led a camping trip, bouldered and climbed outdoors, to name a few), and each new experience builds my confidence in myself, which translates to all areas of my life. I also find that my love for nature has a lot to do with my interest in biology, and I have greatly enjoyed exploring where my passions overlap with my academic interests.”

“I chose to come to W&L because of the close-knit community, the strong academics and the way athletics are integrated into campus life. On my recruiting trip, I immediately felt at home. The kindness of everyone, the unique Speaking Tradition and the supportive environment made it clear that I would thrive here for the next four years.”

We are so proud of you, Lucy!

Lucy Donahue ’24 gained valuable knowledge and experience at W&L through her involvement in the Shepherd Program, the Bonner Program and other activities. She now applies this expertise in her role as a financial analyst at Amazon while also working towards her CPA.

“At W&L, I was able to pursue all of my academic interests because of the liberal arts education. My accounting major has prepared me for my future role through the coursework, collaborative elements and developing my problem-solving skills. I was also able to minor in both poverty and human capability studies and medieval and Renaissance studies. My experiences in the Shepherd Program have taught me invaluable communication and critical thinking skills and caused me to challenge some of my preexisting beliefs. My capstone experience for medieval and Renaissance studies greatly improved my ability to analyze issues and dive deep into subject material and communicate my findings through writing. All of my experiences and coursework at W&L has prepared me in some way for the professional world.”

"My most impactful experience at Washington and Lee has been stewarding the Honor System through my role as head hearing advisor. The Honor System is not only the bedrock of what makes W&L the incredible academic institution that it is but also a place that produces honorable people who hold themselves and their peers to high levels of personal integrity."
