Later today, collegiate brothers will arrive for Session 1 of the 2026 Lexington Leadership Institute. This three-day leadership development program – made possible by the Spears Family Epsilon Epsilon Center for Excellence and the generous contributions from alumni to the Mighty Oaks Campaign - equips rising second- and third-year members with critical leadership skills, valuable personal development insights, and practical tools and experiences designed to help them excel within the Fraternity and in their academic, personal, and professional lives. The Fraternity is proud to offer this transformational experience and is excited to welcome a record number of participants to this year’s Institute.

Session 2 of the Lexington Leadership Institute will welcome an additional class of participants to Lexington later this summer, August 6–9.

Last month, the Auburn University community came together for the inaugural Romo Cup on April 25, a fraternity wiffle ball tournament honoring the life and legacy of Beta Theta Chapter Brother Will “Romo” Romanowski, who passed away in 2023 as a result of a tragic truck accident in a strong rainstorm. Hosted on the chapter’s East Lawn, the event featured eight participating fraternities and transformed what began as a casual side-yard game between Sigma Nu and Alpha Tau Omega into a campus-wide tournament centered on fellowship, remembrance, and service.

Brother Romanowski, who had a deep passion for baseball and aspired to one day work in Major League Baseball, left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Inspired by his personal motto, “Be Better Than Yesterday,” the Romo Cup now serves as both a celebration of his life and a fundraising initiative supporting the establishment of the Will “Romo” Scholarship at Auburn University. With support from Auburn’s Greek community, university organizations, and numerous sponsors, the event raised nearly $35,000, bringing the scholarship close to endowed status and ensuring future Auburn students will benefit from Romanowski’s legacy for years to come.

A Sigma Nu Fraternity Grand Chaplain Memorial Day Message:

Every generation of men inherits something from the generation before it. Most of what we inherit is ordinary. Some of it was purchased at an extraordinary price.

Sigma Nu was born in the shadow of that price. When James Frank Hopkins and Greenfield Quarles enrolled at VMI, they came not as boys discovering the world but as veterans who had already seen it at its worst. They had marched, they had buried friends, and they had watched a generation of American men disappear into the ground. And then they came home, picked up their books, and tried to build something worthy of what had been lost.

That is the tradition of the Citizen Soldier. Not as a man who lives for war, but a man who answers the call when it comes, who endures what must be endured, and who returns determined to make civilian life as honorable as the sacrifice that protected it. Founders Hopkins and Quarles were those men. They carried their service not as a badge of glory but as a standard of conduct. When they saw cruelty at VMI, they did not look away. Men who have seen real suffering do not have much patience for the manufactured kind. They, joined by Founder Riley, clasped hands on the Bible on a moonlit October night and pledged to do better.

That pledge became Sigma Nu.

The Creed of Sigma Nu calls us to believe in the life of Love, to walk in the way of Honor, and to serve in the light of Truth. It does not promise ease. It promises purpose. The men and women we remember this weekend understood that in their bones. They did not wait for certainty before acting. They loved their country, their families, and they walked in the way of honor when it cost them everything.

Brothers, I ask you today to do three things.

First, remember, by name, if you can. Seek out a story. Find the veteran in your chapter’s history, in your family, in your community who gave everything. Say their name aloud. Names are the last thing we owe the dead.

Second, grieve honestly. Memorial Day is not a holiday. It is a holy day. The cookouts and the games are not wrong, but let them not be escapes. Sit for a moment in the weight of what this day actually means. Sorrow is not weakness. It is the proper human response to sacrifice.

Third, live worthy. The men and women we honor today are not distant abstractions. They are a standard. They walked in the way of honor when the way was hard. You may never be called to give what they gave. But you will be called daily to choose honor over convenience, truth over comfort, service over self. To believe in the life of love when love is costly. That is what the Creed asks of us. Live it well.

To the memory of all Sigma Nu brothers who served and fell, in every war, in every theater, in every generation, we say: you are not forgotten. Your sacrifice has shaped the world your brothers now inhabit. We carry your names and your example forward.

This Memorial Day, let us be reminded to be men worthy of their cost.

Fraternally Yours,
Drew Logsdon (Western Kentucky)
Grand Chaplain

Hi Rickety to the Fraternity's 2025-2026 class of Consultants! Over the past year, these brothers traveled countless miles in service to the Legion of Honor — supporting chapters, mentoring collegiate leaders, strengthening operations, and helping brothers across the country pursue excellence. From serving as facilitators at College of Chapters to long weeks on the road and in-person campus visits, their impact on Sigma Nu will be felt long after this academic year comes to a close.

Please join us in thanking these brothers for their outstanding service to Sigma Nu Fraternity.

In late April, Missouri University of Science and Technology profiled two recent graduates, Gamma Xi Chapter alumni Ben Roth (left) and Gavin Hays (right), who have turned their passion for classic gaming into a growing business venture through STL Arcades, a St. Louis-based company that builds custom arcade machines for homes and businesses. Roth, a 2024 computer science graduate, founded the company after teaching himself the cabinet-building process and launching operations from his home workshop. Hays, a 2025 business and management systems graduate, serves as the company’s sales manager. The two met as collegiate members of Gamma Xi Chapter and now work together to create fully customized arcade machines featuring thousands of classic games.

The Zeta Upsilon Chapter at Arizona State University recently received national recognition when Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs honored the chapter on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. During his remarks, Rep. Biggs commended the chapter’s commitment to academic excellence, civic engagement, leadership, and service, specifically highlighting the chapter’s partnerships with organizations such as Childhelp and the Food Recovery Network. He also praised the involvement of Sigma Nu members in student government and campus leadership roles, noting that the men of Sigma Nu are “thoughtful, driven, and deeply committed to serving others.” A copy of Rep. Biggs’ remarks is included in full below:

“Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I rise today to recognize the outstanding young men of Sigma Nu Fraternity at Arizona State University.

I had the pleasure of spending time with this group last month and am encouraged by their honorable character, discipline in the classroom, and desire to do good in the community.

ASU Sigma Nu has a rich understanding of our Constitution and recognizes the importance of civic engagement. They also desire to make a meaningful difference to those around them, routinely partnering with organizations like Childhelp and the Food Recovery Network to fight food waste and hunger.

Sigma Nu members are also leaders who serve in ASU’s student government and in a variety of campus clubs. When young men surround themselves with peers who challenge them to grow and live with integrity, they are better prepared to serve their families, communities, and the nation.

The men I met at Sigma Nu were thoughtful, driven, and deeply committed to serving others. I have no doubt they will continue to make a just and positive impact on their campus, throughout Arizona, and across our country.
I thank them for their leadership, their example, and their commitment to these timeless values.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I yield back.”
