SURI: Pedro Robertson ’27

This summer, civil engineering cadet Pedro Robertson '27 explored historic bridges across Rockbridge County to better understand how engineering has evolved over time. Through VMI's Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI), he combined history and engineering while gaining valuable hands-on research experience that will help shape his future honors thesis.

A rivalry renewed.

VMI and Virginia Tech share a football history that stretches back generations, and on Sept. 5, the Keydets and Hokies meet again.

🐀 Rat Tracker: August

The journey has begun.

The Rat Mass of 2027+3 has completed Matriculation Week and successfully faced the Rat Crucible, marking the first major milestones of the Rat Line.

With those challenges behind them, they're settling into life as VMI cadets by balancing academics, military training, physical fitness, and meeting the daily demands of the Institute.

The road ahead is long, but every challenge is another step toward becoming leaders of character.

Stay tuned next month as we continue following the Rat Mass of 2027+3 on its journey through the Rat Line.

From Matriculation Day to Rat Crucible, VMI rats are challenged physically and mentally as they learn to work together, push beyond their limits, and take their first steps at VMI.

Virginia Military Institute will hold its convocation ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10:30 a.m. in Cameron Hall on Main Street, hosting Douglas Bradburn, Ph.D.

The event marks the start of the new academic year, is free and open to the public.
