On the evening of October 4, the UK Baroque Trumpet Ensemble had the great honor of performing alongside the Vanderbilt Blair School of Music Historical Performance Ensemble at Turner Recital Hall.

The evening featured a beautiful program of Baroque and early music, including works by Buhl, Torelli, Ritter, Schmelzer, Vejvanovský, and Susato, along with a collectively improvised sonata in the early 17th-century Italian style.

The performance was a huge success and such a special opportunity to collaborate with incredible musicians. A huge thank you to the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt for having us and making this experience possible!
We would also like to extend a special thank you to our host and instructor of the Historical Performance Ensemble at the Blair School of Music, Maria Romero, for welcoming us!

We’re excited to welcome the Vanderbilt Historical Performance Ensemble to the University of Kentucky this spring, where we’ll have the opportunity to perform together once again as part of our continued collaboration and travel grant exchange.

Last night, members of the UK Trumpet Studio had the opportunity to perform alongside the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra in a program filled with color, character, and powerful brass writing.
A special highlight was Leoš Janáček’s Sinfonietta, featuring the UKSO trumpet section prominently throughout the work.

The program featured fanfares of the Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1, vibrant Sinfonietta melodies, contrasting colors of Gabriela Ortiz’s Kauyumari, and Elgar’s Enigma Variations.
We’re grateful for opportunities like these that allow our trumpet students to perform alongside the UKSO, learn from the musicians around them.

Congratulations to all performers on a fantastic performance!
