Continuing with University tradition, all Commencement ceremonies will feature a Student Speaker to give a 3-5 minute address to the University of Kentucky Class of December 2026. Only one Student Speaker will be selected per ceremony.

At the University of Kentucky , we have launched an undergraduate certificate and graduate certificate in One Health, advancing the goal of bringing together research, Extension and instruction through the One Health Initiative (UKOHI).

Part of The Bill Gatton Foundation gift, UKOHI was established to become a hub for collaborative research, Extension programs and instruction that promote human, animal and environmental health in Kentucky.

For S. Reddy Palli, UKOHI director and Department of Entomology chair at Martin-Gatton CAFE, teaching students about One Health concepts is essential to shaping future leaders in this important field.

“At UK, we want to be a leader in educating people and students about the significance of One Health and its impact on everyone’s daily life,” Palli said. “We want to prepare students to approach today's complex health challenges from a broader, transdisciplinary perspective.”
