Kappa Alpha Order Theta Chapter at the University of Kentucky

Good Evening,

Recently, the brothers of Theta Chapter went out and performed for a charity called Greek Sing at Rupp Arena! We raised money and performed a dance for the Make-A-Wish foundation. We are very proud of our brothers and especially the coaches that helped make the dance special for the kids!!

This past Wednesday, our Brother Wells Ipema and New members George Scheiderer, Davis Brown, Gavin McKune, Jacob Stilz, and Bryce Madder participated in Phi Sigma Rho’s annual Bowl-A-Thon. Our team walked away with a victory, raising money for the Independence Fund while also supporting Phi Sigma Rho is raising money for the American Cancer Society!

Tonight, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Marlon Gibson from the national office at our chapter meeting. Dr. Gibson have an excellent presentation on what it means to be a man of gentility and respect in today’s world while also being inclusive, as well as how we can embrace cultural humility as a part of our daily lives. Thank you again Dr. Gibson!

Brother Wells Ipema and Brother Matt Steinher attended Kappa Alpha Order’s 80th convention and had an amazing experience.

At the 80th convention, Brother Ipema and Brother Steinher had the opportunity to discuss and vote on amendments to KA law and voice their opinions on any matters regarding the amendments.

Pictured in the top right is Brother Lew Hoyt of the Beta Sigma chapter at USC. Hoyt was an outstanding track and field athlete who later went on to become a Top Gun instructor, as well as an aid to the Israeli Air Force in training and flying with some of their best pilots.

Pictured in the middle right is Brother Frank Weiser, a special initiate of 2019. Weiser served as a Navy Blue Angel pilot for over 10 years, who flew numerous missions overseas. Additionally, he was one of the primary pilots for the filming of Top Gun maverick.

One of our brothers who is near and dear to us is trying to help his family by spreading a go fund me for his brother who has been battling cancer for more than three years now and unfortunately the cancer has spread to brain and lungs. The medical costs of cancer are a massive burden to bare on a family. We are asking you to share this go fund me to help aid with the costs of the treatment. “This past weekend, our President Wells Ipema, Purser Matthew Steinher, and Historian Beau Brady had the privelage to represent theta chapter at KA’s 5th regional officer training conference. At this conference, our officers had the opportunity to further their leadership skills and develop new intuition for how to better run our chapter in their respective positions.

Additionally, Theta chapter was presented its 4th consecutive academic achievement award at OTC!

Brother Gio Ricardo has recently been elected as the official Director of Health initiatives by the IFC. We are extremely proud of him and can’t wait to witness his contribution to the IFC. Excelsior!

On this day in 1893, the legacy of Theta chapter was chartered at A&M college of Kentucky. Today we celebrate the inception of our chapter, and all the brothers who have enjoyed the benefits of being a member of Theta chapter. Wheat barley!

Pictured in the second slide is Kappa Alpha Order’s practical founder, Sammuel Zenas Ammen, whose signature is still on our original charter, written 130 years ago.
