Chapter Eternal

The Order is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Nash Kotcher, an Active Member and 2026 initiate from Alpha Omicron Chapter at the University of Arkansas. Nash was known for his infectious positivity and for leaving a lasting impact very quickly within his time in the chapter.

In the short time span of one year at the University of Arkansas, Nash became actively involved in Leadership Walton, was named Associate President of the Walton Sales Club, and was one of only two freshmen selected to represent the University at the Arkansas Student Leadership Forum.

The Chapter honored the memory and life of Nash by hanging a banner of his name on the chapter house. The Order is saddened by his loss and wishes to share our prayers and warm thoughts with Nash’s family, friends, and brothers.

The Order is proud to welcome Katherine Bryant as our Reporting and Data Coordinator.
 
Katherine grew up in Fort Benning, Georgia and began her career in Cleveland, Ohio, as a licensed Medical Massage Therapist before moving back to Columbus, Georgia, where she shifted into working with Greek organizations at OmegaFi. In that role, she built a reputation for combining accountability with approachability, working closely with undergraduate officers and advisors to help chapters navigate challenges and get the most out of the systems they rely on.
 
In her new role, Katherine will be responsible for supporting the success of Active Chapters and provisional chapters nationwide by coordinating timely national reporting system processes, maintaining data accuracy, and building strong communication and working relationships with chapter officers.
 
Katherine resides in Fort Bragg, North Carolina with her husband and three children, Kailee, Juniper, and Oliver. Outside of work, Katherine enjoys reading, family movie nights, and hosting college football gamedays with friends every weekend, and she serves on the Family Readiness Group (FRG) Care Team for her husband’s unit.

On March 31, 2026, Former Knight Commander Dr. Idris R. Traylor was posthumously honored at the Texas Tech Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards ceremony. Each year, Texas Tech recognizes an advisor who goes above and beyond in service to their chapter with the Advisor of the Year award. In tribute to Dr. Traylor’s extraordinary legacy, this award has been renamed the Dr. Idris R. Traylor Advisor of the Year Award.

After nearly seven years with Kappa Alpha Order's national administrative staff, Dr. Marlon Gibson has accepted a role with Zeta Beta Tau National Fraternity.

Since joining the staff in the fall of 2019, Marlon has personally visited more than 80 different chapters across all 14 provinces, some of them nearly every year of his tenure. In a single academic year (2023–24) alone, he visited 48 chapters; in the years since, he's kept up that pace, visiting dozens more each fall and spring even as his role expanded. Along the way he built wonderful relationships with campus partners, senior student affairs/services professionals, chaplains, and Greek life professionals at schools from Stanford to Vanderbilt to the University of Florida.

His visits opened doors for chapters that might not have had those connections otherwise.
But the numbers only tell part of it. What shows up in a review of his efforts is how chapters responded to him personally. Members thanked him for creating spaces where they could ask hard questions, "without shame, guilt, or misunderstanding." Chapters asked him back year after year, not because they had to, but because they wanted him there. He helped develop the Values in Action curriculum that every KA undergraduate leader has completed. He brought Unreasonable Hospitality into the Emerging Leaders Academy, and by drawing on his own story as a first-generation college graduate and Ph.D., built a First-Generation Leadership program.

In his new role with ZBT as Senior Associate Director of Risk Reduction and Conduct, Marlon will help advance their work in risk reduction, conduct, chapter accountability, education, and member safety, partnering with undergraduate brothers, volunteers, staff, and campus professionals to strengthen chapters and the overall brotherhood experience.

Marlon will still reside in Atlanta, Georgia, with his bride, Dr. Sheree Gibson, and their son, Adam Patrick. And, they love visitors. Luckily for KA, Marlon will still lead sessions and attend KA’s leadership education programs. Further, he will be engaged on a case-by-case basis with future chapter events.

Multiple national fraternities, sororities, colleges, and universities have told KA directly that with Marlon doing his work, KA has stood apart. Please join us in thanking Marlon. We look forward to working with him as we continue to move onward and upward.
