It’s not just what you know—it’s who you know. And the Nebraska LEAD Program helps you build both.

For Lucy McWhirter, the Nebraska LEAD experience has been about making meaningful connections while expanding her understanding of agriculture across the state, the country and the world.

It’s the combination of knowledge and relationships that makes the Nebraska LEAD Program such a unique leadership experience.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln students Jacob Behnk and Juliet Traver-Kazemba spent the summer in Washington, D.C., gaining firsthand experience in international trade through internships made possible by the Clayton Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance.

Behnk worked with DTB AgriTrade on agricultural trade issues, including export documentation, trade data and policy research. Traver-Kazemba interned with the Washington International Trade Association, where she worked on trade research, events, communications and its weekly podcast.

Both gained a closer look at how international trade policy is developed and how those decisions affect Nebraska agriculture and consumers.
