I’m still taking this one in...
I am incredibly honored to receive the Tom Carew Servant Leadership Award.
Of all the reasons this recognition means so much to me, having Tom’s name attached to it makes it especially meaningful. I have tremendous respect for Tom—for his integrity, the way he leads by example, and the advice and guidance he has so generously shared. To be recognized with an award that represents the kind of leader he is feels incredibly special.
I was also thankful for the words Zach shared during the presentation:
“Melissa leads by example and is always willing to help, mentor, and teach others. Service is a top priority for her, and she consistently delivers outstanding results in her territory. Her positive attitude, willingness to support her teammates, and the positive impact she has on those around her make her a true leader.
Melissa has been helpful to all of us ISPs and takes the time to share her insights. She is a strong advocate and collaborator who consistently represents the voice of her peers. Through her service on the ISP Council, she provides thoughtful feedback, identifies opportunities for improvement, and works constructively with others to help drive positive change.”
What was most meaningful is that these are the things I hope define the way I show up every day.
To me, leadership isn’t about a title. It’s about being there for people. It’s sharing what you’ve learned, helping someone else succeed, listening, speaking up, collaborating, and hopefully leaving things a little better than you found them.
I’m so grateful to receive this award, and even more grateful for the people I get to work with, learn from, and support every day.
This is an honor I will truly cherish - Carew
