๐ŸŒ NWU + Phi Kappa Phi = A richer study abroad experience.

๐Ÿบ Nebraska Wesleyan junior Arabelle Horst is one of just 75 students nationwide to receive a study abroad grant by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi! She'll use the grant to study for three weeks in Mexico City.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "I remember talking to Dr. (Nathaniel) Smith, and he was talking about what a small campus community can do for you. I really liked the idea of getting to know your professors a lot more, as well as being really involved," Arabelle said of choosing NWU.

โš ๏ธ You may see some construction around one of our historic and beloved residence halls as we complete a planned upgrade to Johnson Hall to protect and preserve the building for years to come. While the work may look a bit messy right now, itโ€™s short-term and part of our ongoing commitment to our residential community. Weโ€™re building for the future, and excited for whatโ€™s ahead! โš ๏ธ

Happy 1st day on the job to Luis Garcia!

Luis is a reentry program intern at the Center for People in Lincoln. The NWU criminology major will help people find resources, jobs, housing and support to be successful after release from incarceration.

โ€œMy goal is to gain real life experience in my field. This will let me see how prepared I am and where I need improvement if I want to keep doing this work,โ€ he said.

โ€œOne reason I knocked on this organizationโ€™s door was to give back to a group that was with me [in the years before I transferred to NWU.] They not only gave me a scholarship; they gave me guidance and requested accountability on my behalf. This is a form of paying it back.โ€

๐ŸŒ Another year, another milestone.

๐Ÿบ Nebraska Wesleyan Students Murslen Mudhafar, Daniela Garcia, and Ashton Barlow were each awarded Gilman scholarships this spring, raising NWU's total to 75 Gilman scholars since the program began in 2001.

๐Ÿซ What does that mean? It means Nebraska Wesleyan is a top producer of Gilman scholars among schools of fewer than 5,000 students over the 25-year history of the program. This recognition reflects our commitment to helping our students participate in international experiences that help them gain competitive career skills and global networks.
