Over 1000 miles from her Miami hometown, Alanah is understandably a bit nervous to start her Husker journey. But mostly, she’s looking forward to building a home on campus.

As a high schooler, she built an impressive resume — student government president, multi-sport athlete, creator of the football program’s media team and more. It is a resume she’s excited to build on at Nebraska. And in a place where she knows practically no one, she’s leaning into getting involved.

“I’m really excited to start joining different clubs. I’m pretty straightforward when it comes to seeking out new experiences, so I’m hoping I’ll just be able to start networking and meeting a bunch of people right away that will help to build community here.”

Did you know the "Father of the Yellow School Bus" was a Husker?

Frank W. Cyr studied transportation challenges in rural education, and his work led to a 1939 conference that established national standards for school buses. Among the outcomes was the standardized yellow color, a safety feature implemented nationwide.
