We were honored to welcome U.S. Sen. John Boozman to the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine and share how we’re building A Culture of Care across Arkansas.

As The Natural State’s first dental school, Lyon is preparing the next generation of dentists to lead with clinical excellence, compassion and service.

We’re grateful to Sen. Boozman for helping secure $15 million in federal funding for much-needed equipment and technology and for investing in Arkansas’s future.

Congratulations to Kristi Price on her appointment as chief of staff at Lyon College!

A valued member of the Lyon community since 2017, Kristi has played an important role in advancing institutional initiatives, supporting shared governance and helping shape the future of Lyon College’s professional schools.

As chief of staff, Kristi will serve as a strategic adviser to President Dr. Melissa Taverner, helping strengthen collaboration, communication and planning across Lyon’s Batesville, Little Rock and Cabot campuses.

“Kristi’s thoughtful leadership and ability to bring people together have made her a trusted colleague across campus,” said Dr. Taverner.

It was great to see so many Lyon College alumni, friends, faculty, staff and Lyon College School of Dental Medicine students at Scots in the Rock last Friday hosted by Lyon College Advancement and Alumni Relations!

The evening began with a welcome from Founding Dean Dr. Burke Soffe, followed by tours of the dental school led by current D2 students. Alumni had the opportunity to explore the facility and see firsthand where the next generation of dentists is being trained.

The event continued at Town Pump, where alumni connected with new Vice President of Institutional Advancement Bailey Faulkner. We were also honored to be joined by President Dr. Melissa Taverner and David Taverner, Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Carolyn Henry, LCSVM Associate Dean Dr. Eason Hildreth and Emily Hildreth.

Our students celebrated Christmas in July with festive activities, a pizza party, sweet treats and plenty of holiday cheer, thanks to our Admissions and Student Affairs team.

Lyon College School of Dental Medicine and Arkansas Children's have announced the inaugural leadership team for the new Arkansas Children's Dental Program, an innovative partnership that will expand access to pediatric oral health care while educating the next generation of dentists.

Congratulations to Dr. Ashley McMillan, who has been named inaugural medical director, and Drew Ramey, MPA, who will serve as administrative director. Together, they will help lead a statewide program that combines hospital-based care, school-based clinics, mobile dental services and hands-on education for future dentists.

Congratulations to Jessica Sliger, MAT, DDS, FAAPD, FALSC, on receiving multiple national honors recognizing her leadership, clinical excellence and contributions to pediatric dentistry!

A board-certified pediatric dentist and adjunct faculty member at the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Sliger was named an American Dental Association “10 Under 10” honoree, an American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Early Career Dentist “Under 10” award recipient, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry,
a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a Fellow of the American Laser Study Club and one of Incisal Edge Magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40” dentists.

A proven fundraising and nonprofit leader, Bailey brings more than a decade of experience building philanthropic partnerships, engaging donors and expanding organizational impact. In her new role, she will lead the college's fundraising, alumni and donor relations, corporate and foundation partnerships, and advancement initiatives across the Lyon College system.

Every smile starts somewhere!

New students at the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine spent time this week examining and sorting extracted teeth while getting acquainted with the simulation lab. It’s one of the first hands-on experiences in dental school, helping students learn tooth anatomy and identify the unique features of every tooth.

Here’s to the first of many milestones on the journey to becoming exceptional dentists. Welcome to the Lyon family, Class of 2029!
